About the Friends
The Friends of
Chevalier Auditorium and Gene Mack Gymnasium
is a non-profit organization of volunteers
dedicated to fostering community support and
being an advocate for the historic theater
and gym in Medford, Massachusetts. By
promoting cultural, theatrical, civic and
youth programs, we strive to enrich the
quality of life in the community.

About the Theatre
Chevalier
Theatre is a historic landmark and cultural
treasure in the heart of Medford Square.
Once the Medford High School auditorium, it
has a Greek Revival style exterior with Art
Deco interior details. A double elliptical
ceiling provides near perfect acoustics. The
2,000-seat, full-stage theatre plays host to
local and touring musical and theatrical

About the Gymnasium
The Gene Mack
Gymnasium, located on the lower level of the
auditorium building, is part of a youth
center operated by the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Middlesex County. The youth center offers
children ages 6-18 recreational and
educational programs including sports
activities, tutoring, computer training,
homework help and mentoring.
